Also, setting up excludes in backup4all of the source paths of all of MS's symlinks and junctions has no effect either. All systems are running Norton Internet Security AV and the cygwin package, however disabling either or both has no effect. Full backups on both Win7 systems spend about 3 to 3.5 hours doing useful work and 12 to 15 hours in the Shadow Copy phase. The time spent in the Shadow Copy phase is now up to 2 hours for differential backups and 15 hours for full backups. ![]() So, on both systems the problem started at the same time as the Build 213 install, the problem does NOT show up on XP systems, and the amount of delay is proportional to the amount of data. On both Win7 systems, 4 of the 8 CPU's are in use during the Shadow Copy phase. The I/O Read and I/O Write counters never budge until the Shadow Copy phase finishes. During the time it is in the problem state, the backup4all I/O Other counter is increasing steadily to a value of between 1 and 2 million requests. Both of my XP Pro systems are spending from a few minutes to twenty minutes though they do have smaller backups. Boy is that appropriately named Differential backups are also taking up to a couple of hours to get through that phase. ![]() Both systems are taking over 15 hours to do a full backup with all but three hours of that time spent in the the Preparing Shadow Copy. The older system was upgraded to build 213 at the same time the newer system was built. One was built in November 2009 the other two weeks ago. I have two systems showing the same problem.
